Yael Andtinova Buried Today in Jerusalem...

Wife of Ohalei Yaakov Teacher Murdered in Moscow

Yael Andtinova Buried Today in Jerusalem...

The happy day of the beginning of the new month of Sivan, the month in which the Jewish people received the Torah, is marred by the burial of a young Jewish woman who travelled to Moscow in order to return Jews to Jewish tradition. The burial of Yael Andtinova took place in Jerusalem at the Har HaMenuchos cemetery in Givat Shaul.

Her husband, Rav Shimon Andtinov, is sitting shiva only today, and leaving for Moscow right afterwards. The address is 86 Fatal St, Ramat Shlomo.

Her grandmother and sister are sitting shiva in the Jerusalem neighborhood of Har Nof.

According to information from Moscow, on Monday, June 2, 2008, Yael Andtinova from Israel was murdered. She was accompanying a friend to the Ohalei Yaakov yeshiva in Moscow where - according to the official version - she came upon a drug addict who stabbed her. She had come to Moscow together with her husband who taught in the Ohalei Yaakov yeshiva.

A representative of ZAKA (an organization dealing with the identification of catastrophe victims) in Moscow, Shaya Deytch, said what witnesses reported: At night, a scream was heard at the yeshiva, and the fire safety forces, stationed nearby the yeshiva, quickly arrived. They called the police which was successful in arresting the suspected murderer. Apparently, he was a known criminal.

According to other reports on the internet, the murder was committed by neonationalists.

Thank G-d, as a result of tense negotiations, permission could be obtained for burial in Eretz Yisroel.

Many of the staff members and teachers of Toldos Yeshurun are closely acquainted with Rav Shimon Andtinov, and we mourn together with him and Yael's family...
