We are asking for help all those who want to support the study of Torah.
The commandment of learning Torah is incumbent on all Jews, but not everybody can afford to sit and learn. People have to work and support their families. Many years ago, the tribe of Yissachar was sitting and learning Torah, while the tribe of Zevulun was working and supporting not only themselves, but those learning Torah as well, thereby acquiring a merit in learning Torah.
It is known that the main activity of Toldos Yeshurun is to pair up Russian-speaking Torah teachers with immigrants from the former Soviet Union to learn Torah b'chavrusa. About 350 teachers are teaching in our program, and one such study pair costs around $150 per month.
We invite you to become sponsors of this program, and receive the merit of Torah learning by paying the monthly stipend for one teacher. Due to the fall of the value of the dollar, our obligations to the teachers have grown, while our income has not (since most of the donations we receive are in dollars, while we pay stipends in shekels). Therefore, we will be forced to either find partners to support part of our study programs in the near future, or, unfortunately, reduce them...
If you would like, you can participate in a particular program that interests you - for example, in a particular city or for a particular class. The best way to use your ma'aser (tithe) money is to support Torah learning for Russian-speaking Jews, while at the same time helping the poorest of Israelis - Russian-speaking avreichim!
