The Ten-Year Anniversary of Rav Yitzchok Zilber's Passing

On August 3rd, a gathering of Toldos Yeshurun"s Russian-speaking Rabbis, teachers and program leaders is taking place on the occasion of the 10-year anniversary of Rav Yitzchok Zilber, the founder and leader of the teshuvah movement among Russian-speaking Jews.

Rav Yitzchok Zilber educated an enormous number of Russian-speaking Rabbis and community leaders, lecturers and Torah teachers who are today heading yeshivos, kollelim and communities across the world. He was the key influence on the rebirth of Russian-speaking religious Jewry, and in the year 2000, the Toldos Yeshurun organization — which today unites over 300 Rabbis, lecturers and teachers, many of them Rav Yitzchok"s students — was founded under his auspices.

On the 8th of Av, 5774, on Sunday, the 3rd of August at 7 p.m. in the Toldos Yeshurun Community Center (17 Kisufim St, Jerusalem), after the Mincha prayers, a memorial evening of the Rav will take place, and after Maariv, his son, Rav Ben Tzion Zilber, will lead those in attendance in learning Mishnayos for the elevation of the soul of Rav Yitzchok Yosef ben Rav Bentzion Chaim.

At the conclusion of the event, the teachers of Toldos Yeshurun will receive mementos from Rav Ben Tzion Zilber and a ceremony will be conducted to name the Community Center in honor of Rav Yitzchok Zilber, in the memory of the Russian Rabbi and Tzaddik.

On the next morning, on the yohrtzeit itself, on August 4th (Av 8th), at 10:30 a.m. a bus will leave from the Rav"s home on 107 Sanhedria Murchevet to the Har Hamenuchos cemetery where the Rav is buried — to ascend to his burial place.

Attention! An evening for women under the direction of Rav Yitzchok Zilber"s daughter Rebbetzin Chava Kuperman will take place in the Community Center on Wednesday, July 30, from 7 to 9 p.m.
